We had Harper's 2nd birthday party last weekend and it was so much fun. Harper was surrounded by friends and family, lots of sweets, gifts, and had a blast! I cant wait to see what this year brings for Harper. She is getting crazier and more grown up by the day, and I just want time to slow down!

I also wanted to mention that the knife we are cutting Harper's cake with has a very special meaning to us. The knifes were a 1st birthday gift from my aunt, and are engraved with her monogram and name. They are sterling silver and are meant to be had her whole life. We hope that we will cut her cake with these knifes each year on her birthday, and then one day she will cut her wedding cake with them. I hope they are as special to her one day as they are to me.

FABBY: Christmas Foyer and Living Room-Tour 2 - Fabby's Living

HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON
I'm sharing my Foyer and Living room all decked for Christmas 2014, Tour 2.
Like I said before, I don't do great changes, I just add to what's always there and I use some of my fave pieces like this tiered blue and white Meissen server. I just add more or less and here and there, no biggie; so I hope you don't get bored, lol!

Ok, here goes some pics of a part of the house. I will post next the den where everything happens, tree and mantel... actually C'mas itself!

My eighteen year old daughter Eleanor made these thumbprint Christmas cards for a Christmas craft. They are adorable, and only took her about half an hour to make from start to finish. Here is how she did it.

As a parent, teaching my daughters the significance of Christmas is a responsibility I take seriously. Competing with the commercial noise generated by the retail industry can be a challenge, but not one that intimidates me. This year, I was determined to find fun, age-appropriate ways to engage my children in dialogue about the true meaning of the holiday beginning with a nativity scene.

Cranberry Orange Donuts - Robyn's View

Homemade donuts are so delicious and perfect because you can make them in any flavor you want. Throw in a few tastes of the holidays by adding fresh cranberries and hint of citrus for a donut that is tastes so amazing that you won’t be able to eat just one. Cranberry Orange Donuts are the perfect grab for breakfast!

I am SO excited; there are just so many things I want to make, my mind has been fit to burst with things I want to make. Of course, December would need to be about a million days long in order for me to have time to make everything!

Do you have that problem too? I mean, really, it’s a good problem to have, if I was sat here like “I have nothing.” then this blog would be pretty boring!

Cookies For Santa
Here is a roundup of Santa approved cookies. There is a cookie for whatever Santa may want, if it be peppermint, mint, cranberry, or the nontraditional Santa Pecan pie. You eat with your eyes first so give Santa something to look at while he munches. After all he is bringing toys to all good boys and girls, i’m sure he’d want a little snack and a variety wouldn’t hurt.

Starbucks Copycat Cranberry Bliss Bars Recipe | www.pinkrecipebox.com
Can you tell how much I’m loving copycat recipes lately? Over the past couple of weeks I’ve posted Starbucks copycat recipes forStarbucks caramel brulee latte and Starbucks cinnamon dolce latte, as well as Cinnabon copycat recipe for cinnamon rolls – I just can’t get enough of them! The copycat recipes have been really popular, so I hope you guys love this one as much as you have loved the others!

Every year I find myself buying lots of paper gift bags, especially for those family members for which I opt to buy a series of small items I know they need/will use throughout the year (gourmet food, bath accessories, etc). This year, in the true handmade spirit, I decided to make my own gift bags.

Hey guys! It is the last entry in the Christmas Series and that means dessert!! To me peppermint and chocolate are the perfect flavors for Christmas and it is my favorite flavor combination. I wanted to make a truly festive dessert but one that was easy.
I love starting with a box cake mix and jazzing it up. It saves me some time during the bust holidays and gives me more time for wrapping presents, drinking hot chocolate with the family and just enjoying the holidays.
This cake is a snap to make and the star is the Dark Chocolate Peppermint Ganache.

DIY Mason Jar Hanging Lanterns - Pink Heels Pink Truck

I love Mason Jars. I love using them as glassware. I love using them as decor. I just love love love them. So I decided to create some hanging lanterns using Mason Jars. These are super easy to make and are cheap! I spent less than $40 and ended up with 12 Hanging Lanterns.

We love when our friend Katie F. gets creative and shares a fun craft with us! Today she is showing us How To Dye Bottle Brush Christmas Trees! These are so much fun and a great inexpensive way to decorate for he holidays! You may see colorful bottle brush trees in gift shops and decorating magazines, but buying some for yourself can come at a price. Instead, why not try dying your own? Below you will find everything you need to know on how to dye bottle brush trees. In just a few steps, you can turn plain, dollar store trees into colorful ones. Here’s how!

This was not what I set out to write about today. This is not where I like my writing to go too often.
But today these points were triggered in my mind...

While many times you will see kissing balls made out of greenery or flowers, we made our kissing balls out of ribbon. We made these for my daughter’s wedding — she really loved the whimsical look of these.
These can be used to decorate for any event or occasion. All you really have to do is change the color of the ribbon used. You can also stick small flowers or greenery in these to mix it up a little bit. What do you think?

Snug Little Snowmen

Hello Everyone,

I had the pleasure to do a test pattern called #SnugLittleSnowmen for Jessica at Sweetbriar Sisters.

There are two different sizes and I tested the large version. I will be making the smaller version soon (he needs a companion). This was my first time testing a pattern for Sweetbriar Sisters. The pattern directions were easy to follow, well written and I had so much fun making it. I look forward to testing and sewing more from them in the future.

Isn't he cute?? I love his little nose. I have a very big soft spot for snowmen. Every year at Christmas our home is filled with snowmen and Santa Claus' for E.

Here is the link to their shop and be sure to follow them on social media. The pattern should be available at their shop soon!

I am linking up with these wonderful parties, Remodelaholic, More the Merrier andTCB.

Also, every week I co-host at Sew Crafty Angel's Wake Up Wednesday Linky Party. Please stop by link up and see everyone's amazing link-ups.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

My family came over on the weekend and my brother brought over some 100s and 1000s biscuits, and while I was deeply offended that he bought pre baked goods to my home (totally kidding), it did give me the sudden urge to bake something with lots of sprinkles!

This recipe is simple and easy to make but they look so fun and taste so good!

Dresser To Kitchen Island Cart #DIY With #ChalkyFinish Paint Colors - Dear Creatives

We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen. I have wanted an island or work space since we have limited counter space and I love to craft, cook and bake. I decided with the help of the Mr. to create a mobile kitchen island from a dresser. With his help this was an easy diy improvement project for me. As I worked up the idea and he used his wood working skills. Then I finished with my painting skills. I think we make a good team. We pulled a vintage dresser from the garage and decided to give it new life. First by re-purposing it and then making it pretty with Chalk Paint. This was my first time tackling a project like this and using Americana Chalky Finish Paints.

I know there are more than 1001 ways to decorate a mason jar or bottle and you may be among those that are a bit overwhelmed with seeing lots of crafty mason jars (me included). I believe mason jars have moved from being "trendy" to a status of being "classic" in the crafting world. So yes, I'm here to say, mason jars are here to stay. (Was that a rhyme?) Anyway, I have tried to leave them alone . . . except the time I made decorative tops here. I cannot resist any longer! So here I am showing you how I decorated a mason jar and wine bottle for the holidays and or winter. The snow is actually what did it for me!

Christmas Trees Rice Krispie Treats - Simplee Thrifty

Christmas Tree Rice Krispie Treats

These Christmas Trees Rice Krispie Treats are one of my favorite Christmas Treats to make! I have made them for school treats and to share at holiday parties. The kids totally loved these they thought they were awesome plus they joined in on the fun!!

I don’t know about you, but, when it comes to makeup products that I love the most, I’m rarely swayed by packaging. Sure, I would choose colors if there’s a variety to choose from, but I don’t usually let my final decision by swayed by mere packaging. This is probably the reason why I could almost be sheepish to admit that in this recent makeup brush purchase that I made off Ebay, I was totally swayed by mere appearance alone.

Almond butter. MMMMM. Toddler 2.0 and I could eat it off a spoon. I at least give him apple slices with his usually to give an illusion of not just eating the almond butter, but sure enough he just uses the apple slices to suck the almond butter off of. Our addiction has gotten worse since a friend introduced us to Barney Butter. Then I received a few samples of all the different flavors and ate them right from the packet. No, I did not share. I loved them all except the Bare Smooth Barney Butter, but that is no fault of anyone. I don’t like un-seasoned or sweetened nut butter. I am on the hunt for the cocoa and coconut in a larger container, it was my favorite.

Last week a cold front was headed our way and I was not looking forward to 20 degree temperatures. Living on a farm there is always something last minute that needs to be taken care of and this year it was the garden. Normally I cover my raised beds with clear plastic, turning these beds into temporary greenhouse through the rest of the winter. Wind arrived early and there was no way I wanted to tackle plastic and wind; I'm pretty sure the wind would have won. I decided to change things up a little and cover my plants with plastic tarps.

It’s that time of year for travel to see family and friends. I have compiled some items on a list as a guide for safety and comfort. Please be careful and have a wonderful time of memories and joy. I look forward to many years of our friendship — so be safe out there!

Christmas Tree Meringue Cookies - This Silly Girl's Life

Christmas Tree Meringue Cookies, fun and festive meringue cookies that are light as air and melt in your mouth! Super cute for your holiday party!

I have a tendency to bake with fruit in season, I also try to keep recipes simple, like this Caramel Pecan Bar and not use a lot of store bought ingredients. Simple ingredients, things you already have on hand, little extras thrown into the batter, let’s you taste flavors and textures. There are three delicious flavors and two textures in this bar that make it outstanding. You have the wonderful flavors of cinnamon, caramel and pecans that is over the top delicious. The caramel and pecans do double duty by bringing you a creamy crunchy texture.

We spend hundreds of dollars a year on special lotions and creams to make our skin look and feel better, but how about making something at home for a fraction of the cost that is even better for you? This Easy Homemade Body Butter is a great way to quench your thirsty skin as well as an excellent gift item to give for Mother’s Day, Teachers Appreciation Gifts or just because!

5 Awesome Gifts for Knitters - Budget Girl

5 Awesome Gifts for Knitters // Budget Girl --- If you don't knit, then finding gifts for knitters is baffling. So here are some fool-proof gifts for the knitter in your life!
If you don’t knit, then finding gifts for knitters probably baffles you. Which is why I’m here!
As a knitter, I know what I need, what would be nice to have, and what’s just pretty freaking cool whether you use it or not.
This list contains all of those things.
The first signs of Christmas have made their way into the Mercer house this week thanks to one very excited little boy! Though this will be Carson’s third Christmas, at 2 1/2 years old, it’s been the first one that he is really getting excited about. We’ve dug out our Christmas books and movies and learning about the magic of the season is all he wants to do now! He’s constantly chatting about Santa and his reindeer and asks me every morning when he wakes up if it’s Christmas yet! If he’s this excited about Christmas books and movies, I can’t wait to see his face when he sees the tree, Christmas lights, Santa Claus and of course, the gifts! How could you not just LOVE this time of year when you get to experience it through a child’s eyes again! It’s all SO special!

Making a fresh Christmas wreath is one of my absolute favorite holiday crafts! It’s easy, quick, fun, cheap, and really hard to screw up. Everyone should try this at least once. Every time I look at mine I get a secret thrill knowing that I made that. I also enjoy knowing that it is one of a kind and no ones in the neighborhood will even come close to my kick ass wreath!
