We are in Germany!!

Hello Everyone,

We arrived in Germany last Wednesday. We are still suffering from jet lag, but, are thrilled to be here. E has been busy in-processing and we will be moving into our quarters tomorrow. Holly did really well on her first airplane trip across the Atlantic and is dealing with some jet lag of her own. I am in the process of studying for my drivers licence and taking classes here on post to learn how to speak German.

The countryside is beautiful and the people are very friendly. We did a little sightseeing yesterday along the Rhein. We saw some beautiful towns and castles. We stopped in the town of Bachrach and drove by a few other towns.

We have made some wonderful friends since we got here and we will be living just across the street from them. I will be posting pictures and stories from our adventures. Also, our household goods will arrive soon and I will be able to start sewing, knitting and crafting...I can't wait!!!

Have a wonderful day!!

Edelweiss Backpack

Hello Everyone,

I had the pleasure of testing another pattern from Sara at Sew Sweetness. This beautiful back pack is called the Edelweiss Backpack and I love how it came out. This fabulous bag can be made as either a backpack or a cross-body bag. There are pretty flap pockets on the front, as well as both a zip closure and flap at the top of the bag and an inner zipper pocket. The finished size is: 15-1/2” long x 12” tall x 5” deep.

When I heard the name of this backpack I couldn't wait to make it. I knew it was fate. We are posting to Germany in a few weeks and I thought this would be perfect for when we go sightseeing. I fell in love with this fabric that I got at Joann Fabric Store and thought it was perfect for this backpack. The pattern was easy to follow and is perfect for someone who is at an intermediate level. This is the first backpack I have ever madeI can't wait to use it!!

The pattern is available for purchase as a pdf file in Sara's pattern shop.

Polka Dot Coat For Holly and Germany

Hello Everyone,

We are anticipating another snow storm here in northern NY, so, I decided to make Holly another coat. I used See and Sew #B5275 again. She was not a happy camper sitting in the snow and slowly sinking down into it.

E and I came across this adorable polka dot fabric. I used the same pattern I used for the other coats here and hereWhen we put it on her, we couldn't stop giggling because she looked so stinkin' cute. At this point, she was ready to go back inside the house, because dinner was being served soon...she is such a Military pup.

I am going to use the same fabric to make a neck pillow for our upcoming trip to Europe. I'm going to make E a neck pillow, a cover for his recording studio board and a bag for Holly's food and toys. We will be posting there soon and we are so excited. This is my first trip to Europe and it is going to be such a wonderful adventure!!
