Curtains are Done!!

Hello Everyone,

The curtains are done!! I want to thank everyone for their input on what I should do about the dilemma I was having. I talked about it in this post I did the other day. E and I went to get more curtain clips that fit into the track that is in our quarters. He put 25 clips on each panel to hold the weight of the fabric and the liner. I ordered the fabric "Tropix Wexford Fresco Goldenrod" and I used Roc-Lon Budget Blackout Fabric both  ordered from Joann's.

I followed the instructions to the tutorial at House of Hepworths.

Here is the before:

Here is the after:

I love how they look during the day. It picks up the yellow in the placemats too. They are so bright and cheery as soon as you walk into the room

At night, they warm the room up and make it feel cozy and inviting.

E took this picture as soon as we hung them up. He loves them!!
I love how these curtains came out. It brightens and warms up the room at the same time. The left panel is pushed over a little because of the counter, but, once I bring these back to our forever home it will be perfect.

When furnishing our garage turned family room, I knew I wanted a round table with some chairs in there. This way the room could double as extra dining space as well, or as desk space. I had my eye on the Weston Crank Bistro table from Arhaus furniture for a while.

Chalk Painted Metal Chairs
I am not sure where I got them, but they have been painted many colors...here, you see them blue, with little red peaking through, with just a touch of rust too..beauties I tell you, beauties in the rough!

This idea for a poncho shirt has been swimming around in my brain for a while. I have a shirt from Charlotte Russe that is similar to these, but is not as long as I would like it to be. I looked at the basic construction of that shirt to come up with my plan for making these. They are easy and fast to make, and oh-so versatile. I could see them with a cardigan over or a long sleeve under in the fall and winter. Enjoy!

This is hands down the best thing I have ever made in our married lives. I’m pretty sure my husband loved it more than anything else I have made. He is so sweet he will never say anything. But honestly try this out, it is delicious and super easy to make!!

Remember this DIY Chain and Pearl Necklace I posted yesterday? Well, someone requested that I make her one. And I did. And it was awesome.

Today I’m sharing a fantastic flower box with you. On Saturday my niece Laura was married. Her wonderful reception was at a vineyard here in Connecticut.
It was held outside under a tent, that was exquisitely decorated! The weather was perfect for the occasion. It felt like an early fall evening. Everything was beautiful, especially the bride!

Lemon Brownies 7
I love getting a bag of lemons given to me, our wee tree is getting there but only have 3 lemons from it so far! The next decision is what to make with them. A few months ago Pinterest was full of Lemon Brownie recipes, I was intrigued - I am a little slow on the uptake but I finally made them today and they are delicious! Lovely lemony smell filling the house and a lovely fresh alternative to our decadent chocolate brownie you will find elsewhere on my blog.

Years ago I found this awesome wood caddy at an antique store. It was stained a dark wood and I refinished it in burgundy to go in my guest bathroom to hold magazines.

Summer Makeup Favorites | My Life Well Loved

Hello my lovely friends, today lets climb one more step on sewing ladder and make a Tote bag with faux leather base. Are you as excited as I am? Then, lets do it!!! This post looks too lengthy because of explanation, but trust me its super simple to sew it.

You go one morning to check the garden for any ripe produce. There's a zucchini there that is still a bit puny, but should be ready by the next day. You forget to check in the morning, but remember and look after dinner. It has gone from the size of a hot-dog to the size of your arm in less than 2 days! Yikes! What are you going to do with all that zucchini?!

Plum Tart
I had peaches on my shopping list, because it is peach season. However, the ones I found did not look fresh or ripe, and had no smell to them. I am not sure what that is all about, but like a store-bought tomatoes there was no flavor. So what to do? I went through the market sniffing fruit. The plums I could smell and looked inviting so I brought home enough make a plum tart.

I’ve said this before, I’m not a big fan of coffee – with one exception though, frappes! They were very popular during my high school years back home in Romania (15 years ago!), especially during the summer time. This is when I pretty much fell in love with this delicious iced coffee drink.

I'm Making Curtains

Hello Everyone,

This weekend I made curtains for our dining room. I have been wanting to make curtains for our quarters ever since we moved here in April. Well, after finally picking out the fabric online, ordering it and then waiting for it to be delivered from the States to Germany takes a "little bit of time."

Here is the fabric I selected for the dining room. I ordered it from Joann's and it is called "Tropix Wexford Fresco Goldenrod." I love how bright and cheery it is. We are not  painting our quarters, so I am using fabric to pop color into every room.

We have an open floor plan and I ordered extra fabric to tie in the living room,  but, I didn't order the correct amount. So, I will be placing another order for fabric for curtains for the living room. I also lined them with Roc-Lon Budget Blackout Fabric that I order also from Joann's.

These are the windows they were supposed to be on:
The reason these are not hanging up right now is because in our quarters we are not allowed to have curtain rods. The curtains I made has a 3" rod pocket, because these will be used when we move back to our forever home after our assignment here is complete. The system installed and used in these quarters has these plastic clips that are on a track. Well, the curtains are too heavy (especially with the liner).

I am heading out tomorrow to go look for metal clips that will be strong enough to hold the curtains up and that will slide into the track. Wish me luck!!

Stay tuned!!

How to Use a Twin Needle

Hello Everyone,

A friend of mine asked me to hem her daughter's pants. They were linen and had parallel lines on it. I wanted to duplicate that and I never used a twin needle before. I was excited to try it out.

It was very simple to use and it sews perfect parallel lines. I followed the manual on the correct way to thread the needle. My machine has a setting for the twin needle to prevent the needle hitting the presser foot and breaking.

You use two spools of thread and follow your machine's instructions for threading. Also, twin needles come in different widths.

You can sew around curves with the twin needle. If you sew a curve too fast, you will place pressure on the needle and it will break.

This is the perfect way to sew perfect parallel lines and give your hems a nice professional look!

My First Attempt at Digitizing for Embroidery

Hello Everyone,

I made my first attempt at digitizing a logo for E. He loves anything Fender®. He wants me to make him shirts and embroidery the Fender® logo on them. I am sure he will also want me to embroider his guitar straps, amp covers, etc.

It took me a while to read through the manuals and watch some on-line videos and it worked.

Here it is:

I can't wait to start digitizing other things. I am definitely hooked.

Have a great day and week!!
