Happy Military Spouse Appreciation Day!!

May 6th is a very special day! It is Military Spouse Appreciation Day.

Back in 1984, President Ronald Reagan created this special holiday just for us military spouses in recognition of the sacrifice that we make. We think military spouses should be thanked everyday because for without our “service” the United States Armed Forces would not be able to do what they do.
President Ronald Reagan recognized the profound importance of the military spouse’s commitment to the readiness and Well-Being of servicemembers, and on May 23, 1984, he signed a proclamation that set aside the Friday before Mother’s Day each year as Military Spouse Day.

Robert L. Gordon III, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Military Community and Family Policy) released this statement:

"Today is an extremely meaningful day for the entire military community: Military Spouse Appreciation Day. It provides an opportunity for all of us to take time to truly reflect on what it means to be a military spouse and just how important our spouses are to not only our families but to each Service’s mission readiness as well. Today, we reaffirm our steadfast commitment to supporting and honoring all of our Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, National Guard, Reserve, and Coast Guard spouses. Whether it’s packing up a household and moving every two to three years or managing the home-front during deployments, military spouses inspire us every day. They rise to meet the challenges with grace and courage. Without strong support from home, our service members could not accomplish the important tasks at hand, especially when deployed overseas and in harm’s way. Spouses truly serve!"

I wish all my fellow Spouses (HH6's=Household 6's) a very special Happy Military Spouse Appreciation Day!! Have a wonderful weekend!!

All my best,
